I'm sitting here at a computer answering questions on okcupid when it occurred to me. the future has/is happened/happening. our society has evolved to the point that it almost isn't socially acceptable to not be connected to the net in some fashion. we have devices now that fit into the palm of your hand and give you up to the second readings of the world around you, my G1 phone, lets me ping my friends, update my blog, write stories, fix my server, can tell me or anyone i invite to find me anywhere in the world. i get up to the sec updates about every little detail of anything i want, i can look up any bit of information that is out there. i don't need to be an expert in quantum mechanics, wikipedia does that for me. in the works for what is going on, paper thin displays that are updated through wireless, a black goo floating off the coast of alaska, my music player actually looks like something out of star trek. i sometimes feel like i should be updating logs with it. i speak every day with people in 7 different countries at a min. people i have never and will never probably meet. in the 80's they said the world is getting smaller. it really is, i can open up dialogs with about 2 billion people at anytime with a few key strokes. regardless of the location of me or them. slowly as man kind steps forward into this new world things are getting easier and harder at the same time. socially it's a nightmare, i have suffered as a result as i am very poor at real social interaction outside of the internet. it has gotten to the point where some people have never left their house. for better or worse our world is changing. we can fight the change, but should we. some refuse to accept it. others dove in so far they no longer fit in. what are your views? is the world ready for the edge of the cliff we are all standing on? can the human race survive what we are becoming. or are we evolving past humanity now? becoming even less human and more machine. I for one can't wait to find out. through all the stuff thats happening and going to happen. change is always good. sometimes you just need to accept it.
